This Saturday (4/26/08), A Bowl of Good will be introducing a new Cold Lentil Salad; ingredients include currants, capers, and red onions, and is wonderfully spiced with India flavors. It is a fantastic accompaniment to a plate of fresh spinach.
Of course she will have her soups, breads, and hummus there but we should note two things:
- Grandma Shoonies Fennel Bread sells like hotcakes – get there early.
- The newly introduced Smok’n Cuban Black Bean soup is making a huge splash. Pick up some market fresh tomatoes and mix in a bit of sour cream and this soup/stew is irresistible.
We look forward to our first Saturday in the Staunton market and meeting new friends!
You might want to take the opportunity and stock up on A Bowl of Good’s sampler and lunchbox sized soups this Saturday at the Farmers Market; there will be a special sale on those items.
Grandma Shoonies Fennel Bread continues to be a big hit. It sells out quickly so you might want to get a jump on the crowd.
Note that Katrina will be at the Harrisonburg Farmers Market and Rachael will be in Staunton!

Spring brings fresh smells, colors and life. Enjoy a stroll through the Farmers Market on Saturday morning taking in all of that life and pick up a freshly baked loaf of Potato-Buttermilk bread (seen below) or the increasingly popular Fennel Bread.
Morning and Spring also remind us of fresh beginnings and a new day. Many people are citing rumors that something may be afoot that is fresh and new with A Bowl of Good.  Well… who are we to stifle such interesting talk! We can neither confirm or deny such rumors about… new and fresh beginnings. But we would love to see you at the market and chat about them!

Tomorrow’s Farmers Market looks like it might be a little rainy – but we’ll be there. We’re lining up a lot of cookies like the Chocolate Aztecs and Orange-Biscotti (shown below) so you can curl up with a book, sip some tea, and munch on your favorite cookies on a rainy day.
Katrina with Donald McGonald: A Perfect Partnership!
We are pleased to announce the new partnership between two visionary businesses intent on providing you food.
A Bowl of Good will be partnering in a new super-duper-size, value-less meal with McGonalds by complimenting their somewhat locally raised (in our hemisphere), Argentine beef burgers, and their Fries of mysterious origin. Imagine now being able to order a Big Stack, Fries, and Marakash Mash? No longer will you walk away feeling like a brick of blah is in your stomach, but rather you will be able to justify eating the grease with a bowl of healthy good soup – kind of a ying-yang thing.
I know what some of you might be asking, “But will A Bowl of Good continue to maintain it’s local, healthy, hearty food with an international zing quality to it? Will this mean that A Bowl of Good might be offering “Zappy Meals” with a prize inside a box at the farmers market? Can your soup and bread now be super-duper-sized at the market?” The answer to those questions are ‘yes’! Don’t worry, we’re not selling out, we’re just becoming something bigger – and you will be too with this super-duper-sized meal!
Not only that, A Bowl of Good will be offering special birthday party tours now for a “behind-the-market-look” for your children. Who knows, maybe even Donald McGonald will show up!
