Happy Thanksgiving!

November 27th, 2008

The turkey is in the oven. We’re getting prepared for eighteen people or more. Family and friends from all over representing many countries (Romania, Russia, Guatemala… California…) will be here and our hearts are full of joy and thanks.  We are thankful for such a rich gathering of family and friends.  What a great day Thanksgiving is!

We’re curious, what are you all thankful for?

Onward to the 2nd Annual Turkey Bowl taking place at Pleasant Valley Elementary School at 10:30 if you want to join us!

Happy Thanksgiving to you all!

The Christmas season is upon us.  Advent and the celebrations will begin shortly.
We want to give thanks to all of you as friends and customers who truly make this vocation a joy.  The interaction with you at the markets, your suggestions, and your encouragements make the endeavor of providing yummy, healthy food worth it.
In Harrisonburg, tomorrow is the last chance you have to pick up A Bowl of Good products before Thanksgiving (apart from the soups at Red Front, Fat Boys – 33E, and Sue’s Super Nutrition).
In Staunton, you’re in luck because you can come by the market this Saturday AND/OR go by the newly opened, awesome, “George Bowers Grocery” http://www.georgebowersgrocery.com/ on the corner of West Beverley and Fayette Street (next to The Dirty Bean).
We thought we would provide a preemptive strike against Christmas holiday chaos by offering a clear understanding of where and when you can obtain A Bowl of Good comfort food.

Today I was in Red Front re-stocking my soups (they are selling like hot-cakes lately).  I ran into a friend and customer who appeared to be under the weather.  He told me that he had come across town (from the East side of Harrisonburg) just to pick up some of my chicken soup (Sweet Potato More & Out of Africa); after that he was homeward and bed bound.  Unfortunately, due to regulations we are unable to retail any of the chicken or meat based soups at places like Red Front but we CAN sell it directly at the farmers markets.  My friend was in luck because I actually had some available to sell him directly.  I felt honored that he thought of A Bowl of Good soup while he battled his sickness.

As the cold and flu season sets in and rainy, dreary days find you longing for a bowl of something hot and hearty, come by places like Red Front for any of the veggie based soups and/or purchase all of the above including meat based soups at the markets.

We look forward to seeing you in Harrisonburg.

*We won’t be able to sell at the Staunton market this Saturday but we will be there for the last market on November 22.

**Staunton people will now be able to access our soups, salads, and bread downtown throughout the week at the brand new George Bowers Market opening up on Friday, November 21.

Their address is:

George Bowers Grocery, Inc., 614 West Beverley Street, Staunton, VA 24401

http://www.georgebowersgrocery.com/

We will be back under the Harrisonburg Farmers Market Pavilion tomorrow – rain or shine!

Our salads keep selling out so again, get there early enough to grab them. Also, we will have LOAVES of potato-buttermilk bread – great for sandwiches! See you there!
