Just loaded a bunch of Ramps in the van headed to the Ramada Inn, commercial kitchen for a day of soup and other product cooking. Â If anyone knows the harsh reality of how garlicy/oniony/stinky Ramps can be, the question is, who gets the “privilege” of cleaning the Ramps?
By the looks of it, we’re going to have a day like THIS
and NOT like THIS
at the Farmers Markets in H-burg and Staunton.
Even with the cold and rainy weather for the past couple weeks, things were moving at the markets. We look forward to seeing you there!
It’s ramp season and in West Virgina they are urr… ramping up for the big hunt. Â A couple of years ago we joined in with some locals in harvesting them, our parents cleaned them (and suffered from the powerful garlic/onion smell), and we included them on some pizzas and bread. Â They kind of look like this:

We’d like to include them again in some recipes. Â Anybody have a connection to some WV priced ramps? Â Here’s a link explaining a bit more about them and recipes:Â http://tiny.cc/iRrUF
While the pink petals in our front yard are snowing down,

below them the daffodils are now making their statement.

On this Good Friday & Easter weekend, we invite you to come to the Harrisonburg Farmers Market and Staunton Farmers Market to purchase special Easter rolls for this Sunday’s meal.

We look forward to seeing you!
Blessings!
This is the view outside our front window.

These are cherry blossoms in the front yard that are attracting our honeybees from the back.

The beauty also distracts us from seeing all the things we need to do around our house.
Spring has sprung and this Saturday the Harrisonburg Downtown Farmers Market and Staunton Farmers Market are back to their weekly schedule. Â We hope to see you there. Â You also be able to find some of our yummy baked goods on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at the Harrisonburg Home and Garden Show in the Kline-May Realty area.
