Pho-grimage

Katrina had to take Ernie to the airport last Friday so while they were up there they decided to take a little Pho pilgrimage.  A Bowl of Good is seriously considering introducing the awesome Vietnamese soup Pho, IMAG0079but in order to do it we need the proper bowls, utensils and ingredients.  Pho 75 in Arlington is the king of all Pho IMAG0089in our minds and was actually an early inspiration for A Bowl of Good.  The place is regularly packed to the gills with people of all kinds: Vietnamese, Hispanic, White, Blue Collar, White Collar, etc.  Pho is made of a delicious beef broth with

thinly sliced beef, rice noodles, mung bean sprouts and other veggies.  You come out feeling full and very happy b/c it feels like you ate something healthy and huber-tasty.

Our Pho-grimage took us to a Vietnamese Supermarket in “Little Vietnam” in Arlington where we met a woman named Kim; IMAG0093she was only too happy and willing to show Katrina how to make Pho and spring rolls.   Never knowing her before Friday, she found herself in Kim’s kitchen cooking up a storm.  Food just brings people together.

The market owners said they will be sending their son, who attends JMU,  to visit us at A Bowl of Good.  Maybe we can get his advice on Pho!  A good Vietnamese lunch for us is capped with the Cafe Su Da coffee.  The specially filtered coffee is poured in a glass of ice with sweetened condensed milk – don’t drink it at night if you plan to sleep.  Stay tuned for when we begin offering Pho as a special.  We might even provide a special night where we learn about Pho and the Vietnamese culture.
