This is a picture of me and Dominic, he brings SO MUCH joy to my life!

In honor of National Autism Awareness day (April 2, 2010), I wanted to share a little bit about autism, and how it affects my life. I married into the most incredible family on June 30, 2007. I received a husband who loves me, and has the biggest heart of anyone I know, a father-in-law who grew up in the Basque region of Spain, and can make a mean Paella, a mother-in-law who was truly a gift to the world from God, and 3 little brothers who are the most fun to be with! My brother in-laws, Gabriel, Dominic, and Yulen have all been diagnosed with autism. Also, we have the unusual honor of hosting Karl Marx on Wednesday at 9:30 a.m.  Karl will be teaching basic Haitian Creole.  We understand he will equitably sign autographs to proletariats and bourgeois alike.

Patrick, called the Apostle of Ireland, was born about the year 389, of Roman and British parentage. Blessed Martin of Tours is said to have been among his kin. But although he is usually accounted as British, the place of this birth is unknown. When Patrick was a lad he was taken prisoner by slavers and carried to Ireland, whence he escaped after six years. Meanwhile he learned to serve God well, for whilst attending the flock of his master he would rise before the light, in snow and frost and rain, to make his prayers.

Two Birthdays of Note

February 24th, 2010

Two birthdays of note were celebrated recently at A Bowl of Good.  On Saturday, Katrina’s mother-in-law and steadfast worker at A Bowl of Good, Martha Didot, was given a surprise 70th birthday.  Friends and family from all over crowded in to show their love to Martha.IMG_1574

In addition, we were able to celebrate Ruby Lehman’s 79th birthday yesterday along with her son as she ate out in A Bowl of Good.  She is pictured here enjoying a bowl of Pho soup.  IMG_1591

Happy Birthday!

Working with JMU’s, WIC (Women, Infants & Children) sponsored program, A Bowl of Good’s Chief Chef, Katrina, is starring in a cooking program designed to encourage healthier cooking and eating.  Last Tuesday the program was in English and today she will be hosting in Spanish.  Eventually the program will appear on a WIC sponsored website.
