A Bowl of Good sells a variety of healthy and fresh, internationally oriented food options, using local produce and products whenever possible. Our products can be found on Saturday mornings at the Harrisonburg Farmers Market found downtown across from the Daily News Record or at a growing list of locations found on this page.
To most 7th grade girls, the only thing more intimidating than being in a house full of men hunting deer would be providing meals for a house full of hungry men hunting deer. But for Katrina, who was left in charge of the kitchen by her mother while she was on a trip, providing food for a lot of people with hearty appetites came as natural as falling off a log. From her early teen years, Katrina has grown in her gift of hospitality and cooking by providing the right food for the right occasion; she now shares her gifts by offering cafe cuisine that is both healthy and hearty.

While living in Haiti, it did not take long for the local Haitians to learn that not only could she quickly adapt to Haitian cooking, but she was skilled in finding the right ingredients and bartering for them. Often, the Haitians themselves would ask Katrina to go to the market because she would get the best deal on ingredients. Katrina continues that tradition by adeptly integrating healthy ingredients and flavors into her cooking gleaned from living overseas in places like Haiti and Guatemala. Her international experiences have helped provide the ZING in her preparations that make them uniquely tasteful.

You are invited to be a part of the growing community discovering the quick yet tasteful food from the kitchen of Katrina. Who says you have to eat greasy, rubber stamped, franchise food to eat fast, healthy, hearty, and flavorful?!

Welcome to A Bowl of Good!

*Here’s http://www.rocktownweekly.com/rocktown/rock_archive_details.php?AID=1081&page=profile a profile article found in the local Harrisonburg, “Rocktown Weekly“. With the exception of the following corrections the article was very good.

  1. I am no longer providing bread and soup at Earth and Tea cafe in downtown Harrisonburg.
  2. Indeed she has received calls to supply a location in Farmville. She is wide open to supplying other places in Harrisonburg and around the Valley. We are actively exploring ideas for places that you can pick up our frozen soups by the quart, and other “A Bowl of Good” products. If you have any big ideas feel free to email me and give me your tips;
  3. Poqomchi (misspelled once and correctly another time) is NOT a dialect. Poqomchi is a DISTINCT MAYAN LANGUAGE as distinct and different as English and Swahili;
  4. The videos that were shown locally to the Poqomchi were viewed via local cable feed on their own televisions, NOT televisions supplied by A.I.D. workers.
