The U.S. vs. Algeria World Cup Soccer game will be one of those milestone moments that many will say, “I was at XXXXXX when that happened.” In case you missed it or if you were one of the zanies in the crowd and want to see how you handled that U.S. 91st minute goal, here is what it looked like in A Bowl of Good (notice the two rugged men hugging and jumping up and down together… and who’s blowing that annoying Vuvuzela):
“Birell, the official sponsor of the Egyptian male” (Birell non-alcoholic beer) – These wonderfully quirky commercials show the emotion and goofiness of guys as a result of the World Cup fever. You don’t have to understand “Egyptian” (Arabic?) to get it.
“Journey of Football” (Puma) – I LOVE this commercial. Africa-centric shot on location in Angola, Ghana and The Ivory Coast and featuring stars Et’o, Zidan, etc. It shows Africa in fun emotion without the stereotypical sand, cheetah and safari themes. Great music too.
“Cafe Owners vs. Mamas” (FIFA South Africa & BP?!) – I’m a sucker for this kind of commercial – hilarious! You have to look closely to understand why the cafe owner holds his forehead after he jumps for a ball.
“Joga Bonito” (Nike) – O.k. over half the guys seen in this commercial won’t be playing for Brazil but it wasn’t even made for the World Cup. Nevertheless, this is an awesome commercial worth noting; it truly catches the vibrancy and spirit of Brazilian soccer. The music also matches perfectly with the spontaneous, creative and rhythmic style. Deep down, we all want to see as much Brazilian soccer as possible because they truly make it a “beautiful game”.

If you have a hard time getting to sleep at night, you might want to listen to Ricky Gervais “Celebrity Lullaby” to Elmo to help you out.
Jose Castro is a teacher in Guatemala. He lost his arms in an electrical accident. He came to the HELPS Int’l (helpsinternational.com) prosthetic team during the week of Thanksgiving. Unfortunately, the team could not help, particularly without his prosthetic arm. The next day Jose Castro brought the arm; the team “just happened” to have the part needed to fix the arm and make it functional again. Jose Castro will now be better able to reach up and write on the blackboard for his students, but as you can see in the video, he is more than capable to do a lot – even without his arms. His spirit is inspiring and humbling as he gives God all the glory.
This is a great video about a Soda Pop store. It gives a good explanation of what makes soda great (including cane sugar as opposed to corn syrup based sodas). We try and carry only cane sugar based sodas; our bottled Coca-Cola is imported from Mexico for that very reason. Maybe a local bottler will begin using better ingredients.
